Admissions Criteria
Steps in the Admissions Process at St. Anthony High School for Grade 9, Sept. 2012
A. Students who take the Co-op test in November will receive notification of the status of their application no later than Saturday, January 21.
- Registration takes place on Saturday, February 4, here at St. Anthony High School. A registration fee of $275. is required to register a student. Payment is by cash, money order or bank check. No personal checks, please.
- Applications for Financial Aid from the Student Partner Alliance are due no later than FEB. 19, 2012.
- Applications for Financial Aid from the Scholarship Fund for Inner City Students are due no later than DEC. 31, 2011.
- Applications for Financial Aid from St. Anthony High School are due by MARCH 19, 2012.
- Incoming 9th graders are required to take a Placement Exam for St. Anthony High School in April 2012(Date to be determined). Students accepted after that DATE will take their placement exam during the summer or at the beginning of the school year.
- Students requiring additional preparation for high school may be required to attend a High School Preparatory program for up to 20 days during the summer.
- First tuition payment is due July 5, 2012. Payment for tuition is electronic.
- School for Freshmen, Class of 2016, begins on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.
B. Students not taking November Co-op EXAM:
- You should receive notification of status within 10 days of submitting material.
- To hold a seat in the Freshman class for September, please plan on registering within 10 days of notice of acceptance.
- Follow items 2-8 in “A” Above.
Incoming Freshmen
Applications Received in Spring and Summer – Procedures
- Copies of report cards for the past 2 years.
- Copies of most recent Terra Nova or NJ ASK scores.
- A St. Anthony High School Application (available on this website)
- (Optional) Applications for financial aid – if eligible and within the deadlines (please contact the Finance Office for applications).
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or principal.
For High School Students Wishing to Transfer – Procedures
Please note: Senior transfers are not normally accepted. However, transfers can be accepted if moving from another area into the Jersey City area. Please call the office for an initial determination (201-653-5143).
For the upper grades in September you must submit:
- Copies of report cards for the past 2 years.
- Copies of most recent Terra Nova or NJ ASK scores.
- A St. Anthony High School Application (available on this website)
- (Optional) Applications for financial aid – if eligible and within the deadlines (please contact the Finance Office for applications).
- Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or principal.
Normally a decision will be made within 10 days of receipt of all of the above materials. Often a personal interview is required with the school Principal.
Transfers
Transfers are accepted after a full review of the student’s record, recommendations and interview with student and parents. The school application must be completed.
