On Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in Room 205, you can find a group of students (including freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors) who participate in an extracurricular activity at St. Anthony’s—the SAT study group. The group meets for half an hour, covering a specific topic (Math on Tuesday and Critical Reading on Thursday) in order to give students an overview of the types of questions covered in each section. In addition to that, students practice strategic, tactical thinking when it comes to the test.
Students who take advantage of the study group find they are better equipped, both to answer the questions and to handle the pressures of a four hour test, thus increasing their scores. Results for the October administration of the test show large increases in scores for the seniors who took the test.
