Spotlight on. . . Michelle Hong!
Class of 2012
Saint Anthony High School Valedictorian
Michelle Hong came to the US five years ago barely speaking a word of English. Leaving her family behind in Vietnam, she committed herself to not only becoming proficient in but also mastering the English language in honor of her beloved grandmother who passed away shortly after her arrival here in the states. Her curiosity and tenacity are character traits that well-define her as a person and known by all faculty, staff and students at St. Anthony High School. Michelle has gone on to make Distinguished Honors all four years of high school. She has been involved in the National Honor Society, Cooking Club, and Softball. An avid reader, Michelle donates her free time teaching children literacy at the Jersey City Public Library. She will attend Rider University on a Presidential Scholarship totaling $84,000. She plans to study Business Finance. Her other college acceptances include Fordham University, Drexel University, Penn State (University Park) and UConn. She has earned a grand total of $800,000 in scholarship money.
